Using bamboo as the main material in the making of their toys offers new possibilities for sustainable manufacturing.  Bamboo is an environmentally friendly material that regenerates quickly.  They introduced their first full lone of bamboo toys in 2005 and Hape now maintains their own bamboo forest.

Production has a tremendous impact on the environment.  Hape strategically considers surface treatment, energy consumption and packaging options to minimize the impact on the environment and maximize efficiency.  From the materials used to how the items get to the store to the packaging used - it all matters.

Another important process that Hape has introduced  is a water purification system that utilizes limited or no chemicals to release the cleansed water back into circulation.
