Preschoolers and Colors

Most preschoolers know their basic colors by this age. Perhaps they even have a favorite color now or a passion for a particular color that they relate with a certain interest of theirs. They may like yellow because construction trucks are yellow. Or they like blue because they like the water. It could be for any reason at all - but kids are very proud to name colors. Parents can encourage learning different colors by asking the question - "What color is ....?"
There are lots of great color matching and recognition toys for your child.
PlanToys has a wooden game for toddlers and preschoolers called My Mood Memo. It is a matching game that matches colors and emotions. This game is a ot of fun and you will be amazed how your child will act out certain emotions.
Hape Toys makes a wooden puzzle for your toddler that they can match the pieces by color as well as by shape. The First Shapes Puzzle is a great puzzle for one years olds.
